Notes on Verizon for load balancing. Showlow currently does not have 5G. Only option is 25mbs unlimited
How to Set It Up (Google Ai)
Physical Connection: Plug an Ethernet cable from a LAN port on your Verizon gateway (typically LAN2 if using IP Passthrough) into one of the WAN or WAN/LAN ports on the ER605.
Verizon Gateway Configuration:
IP Passthrough / Bridge Mode: It is highly recommended to enable IP Passthrough (or Bridge Mode) on your Verizon gateway. This allows the ER605 to receive a public IP address directly, avoiding "Double NAT" issues that can interfere with VPNs and online gaming.
On most Verizon 5G gateways, this setting is found under Network Settings > Network Connections > Network (Home/Office) > Settings.
ER605 Configuration:
Log in to the ER605 (or Omada Controller) and go to Transmission > Load Balancing.
Enable Load Balancing and ensure "Enable Bandwidth Based Balancing Routing on ports" is checked for the specific WAN ports you are using.
Load Balancing Weight: If your ISPs have different speeds, you can set a ratio (e.g., 2:1) to distribute traffic proportionally.
Key Considerations
Echo Server for Failover: To ensure the ER605 accurately detects when the Verizon internet goes down, set a Custom Echo Server (like Google's 8.8.8.8) in the ER605 settings. If left on "Auto," the ER605 might only ping the Verizon gateway itself; if the gateway is powered on but has lost its cellular connection, the ER605 won't know to switch over.
Port Limitations: The ER605 supports up to 4 WAN ports simultaneously. Ensure you have designated enough ports as WAN in the Network > WAN > WAN Mode menu.
